Sara Nuytemans

Sara Nuytemans (Nieuwpoort, Belgie, 1970) woont en werkt in Yogyakarta. Als kunstenaar maakt zij voornamelijk videoinstallaties en doet zij performances. Deze installaties en performances zijn 'visualisaties van het onderzoek naar verschillende representaties van de werkelijkheid en hoe deze met elkaar interageren. Hierbij staat de mens en zijn geconditioneerde manier van waarnemen altijd centraal.'

Birdprayers #2 in Ubud Bali is onderdeel van het gelijknamige project van Nuytemans en de Indonesische kunstenaar Arya Pandjalu. 'It is a creative response to the weighty and seemingly impossible to resolve issue of religious conflict in the world. By representing four major world religions, Judaism, Catholicism, Hinduism and Islam the artists react and challenge competing (and at times inter) religious hegemonies locked in a never-ending debate of often bloody and polemical drama.'
