With artist-collectors Herman van Bostelen and Martijn Engelbregt Designers and artists Martijn Engelbregt and Herman van Bostelen both entered the art world from different disciplines. As applied artists they collect material they use for their work.Eventually, this collection is called an archive and some archive material generally has a system in which you can find things from which to draw from. Both have such an archive, but these vary enormously, not only in content but also in form. For some it is a collection, for others an arrangement. Martin directs, Herman observes. For one, the system must have a specific purpose and should especially accommodate itself (such as the civil service ..), for others it is a means of understanding the world. This summer at Heden, they will have a critical inquiry in these archives together. What is valuable, what is it worth to save and why? The similarities, differences and overlaps of both archives will be studied and displayed in Heden at the Denneweg 14a and the Doornstraat 1 in The Hague. All this with the premise in mind that nothing is enough.
